Get to Know the Women of South Carolina!

Statewide Membership Snapshot

  • Collegiate & Graduate Chapters: At least 45 active chapters span the state—from University-based groups like Psi Eta (USC) and Theta Theta (Winthrop) to citywide and graduate chapters.

  • Auxiliaries & Affiliates: Zeta Amicae and youth affiliates serve alongside collegiate and graduate members, contributing to a vibrant, intergenerational sisterhood.

  • Membership: While local numbers exceed 1,200 members through combined chapters and auxiliaries, the national total surpasses 125,000 college‑educated, service‑driven women.

Scholarship & Professional Excellence

  • Zeta women in SC consistently excel academically. For example, Lander University’s Ericka Smith, a Zeta, earned Greek Leader of the Year, maintained seven semesters on the Dean’s List, and logged over 150 service hours.

  • The sorority’s legacy at USC’s Psi Eta Chapter reveals high achievement and lasting commitment to “Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood".

  • Nationally, every Zeta is college‑educated, and many hold advanced degrees—spanning healthcare, law, education, business, public service, and science.

Awards & Recognition

  • Undergraduate SC Zetas regularly earn honors: at Lander and USC for leadership, scholarship, and service.

  • Chapters statewide vie for institutional recognitions like academic excellence, cultural programming, civic engagement, and philanthropy.

Career & Civic Leadership

  • Members serve across professions—doctors, teachers, attorneys, entrepreneurs, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and more.

  • The Southeastern Region (including SC) historically leads innovative community programs—juvenile justice prevention, academic tutoring, scholarship initiatives, and civic advocacy.

Sisterhood & Mentorship

  • Membership spans generations: Undergraduates, Graduates, Life Members, Zeta Crystal, and Auxiliaries—creating intergenerational mentorship.

  • Chapters actively host leadership development workshops, career mentoring, and networking events supporting professional and personal growth.

Membership Requirements

Although membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is by invitation only, we encourage interested women who both have a track record of community service and are in pursuit of or already in possession of a current baccalaureate degree to contact a chapter in your local area for more information. The required way to show formal interest in membership is attendance at the Informational Interest Meeting hosted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on the campus or in the community. You are welcome to bring a resume with you to the Interest Meeting. Attendance at the Informational Interest Meeting does not guarantee that an invitation to membership will be extended.
