THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA HISTORY - 1940 - Present

Brief State Statistics

Since the early 1940's, South Carolina Zetas have forged an indelible legacy within Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated through a long history of committed leadership and community service. With the dawning of this new millennium, we look forward to the promise of legacies still to be written.​

  • The State of South Carolina is located in the Southeastern Region of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated along with The State of Georgia, The State of Florida, Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and The U.S. Virgin Islands. 

  • The State of South Carolina currently has 29 Active Graduate Chapters and 14 Undergraduate Chapters consisting of over 1,000 College Educated, Professional Women. 

  • The State of South Carolina currently has 16 Amicae Auxiliaries, 11 Archonettes/Amicettes Auxiliaries and a statewide Zeta Male Network.

  • The State of South Carolina has Zeta Houses located in the cities Columbia, Rock Hill, and Sumter. 

  • The State of South Carolina launched the first statewide site in the region on December 29, 1997. The website address was www.midnet.sc.edu/zetaphibeta.

  • The State of South Carolina website began as a graduate school project for Wanda Wiley, a member of Rho Kappa Zeta Chapter with assistance of B.J. Washington, also a member of Rho Kappa Zeta Chapter.

  • The State of South Carolina's first Graduate Chapter, Alpha Omicron Zeta, chartered on February 8, 1941 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The Graduate Chapter chartered the first undergraduate chapter, Psi Alpha, the same day and year on the campus of South Carolina State University. 

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a community-conscious and action oriented organization committed to effectively and compassionately meeting the needs of the communities it serves. Without exception, the members in the State of South
Carolina are equally committed to improving the quality of life in their local communities, while embracing the transitions needed to meet the challenges of the new millennium.
