History of the Amicae of Orangeburg Auxiliary


Brief History of The Zeta Amicae of Orangeburg

  • Zeta Amicae of Orangeburg SC was chartered in 1998.

  • The late Martha M. Lawton and Francena D. Williams, members of Alpha Omicron Zeta, were the visionaries of this auxiliary. Through their commitment and dedication the auxiliary sponsored The Best Chance Luncheon and participated in countless endeavors in the Orangeburg community.

  • Amica Vera D. Graham was the first auxiliary president

The Orangeburg Zeta Amicae Auxiliary was organized on March 31, 1998 with 10 aspirants during a meeting at Rivel on Elementary School. This organization is a first for Orangeburg County. On hand to install the Zeta Amicae charter members were Scarlet H. Black, State Director, South Carolina Chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Mary Strozier-Weaver, Regional Coordinator of Zeta Amicae, Willamae Mackey and Pearl Thomas, State Coordinators of Zeta Amicae.

Zeta Amicae of Orangeburg is our featured auxiliary Sponsored by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Omicron Chapter (Friend/Soror Eris Speights, President), these ladies in light blue work tirelessly to make a difference in their community and abroad.


In 2001 Zeta Amicae of Orangeburg brought the South Carolina Zeta Amicae Queen’s contest crown home. Zeta Amicae of Orangeburg has had the pleasure of serving with the esteemed friends of their sponsoring chapter. Their past and current Amicae Sponsors encouraged and still encourages them to put our best foot forward.

In 2011, Amica Jean Harper began her tenure as auxiliary president. Amica Harper along with the auxiliary members worked in great proportions in the community and beyond. This then paved the way for the current president Amica Annjeanetta Edwards.


Today, Zeta Amicae of Orangeburg has a membership of 12 hardworking ladies.
